Ross Leach was appointed Apprentice Program Manager of the Huntington Ingalls Industries - Fleet Support Group in April 2012 by Director of Operations (now President) Bradley Mason.
Mr. Leach started his career as an Engineer in the Plastics Industry in 1984. He continued working in the Plastics Industry until 2001, worked as a Project Manager in a Security Company thru 2004, and transitioned to the Shipbuilding/Ship Repair Industry in 2005. Throughout these careers, he has always been involved with educating technicians in the lab and on the production floor. In addition to leading the Apprentice efforts at FSG, he is the Training Manager and Facilities Manager for the Maintenance, Modernization and Technical Services Division of the Fleet Support Group. Mr. Leach is a Board Member of the Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing & Technology located at Skagit Valley College, and is an Industry Member of the Washington Maritime Blue Initiative.
As Apprentice Program Manager, Ross is responsible for maintaining FSG’s Apprentice Program in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and has led the effort to take the FSG Program National. Thru this effort FSG’s Apprentice Program was just awarded a National Registration with the U.S. Department of Labor. In order to focus on the expansion of the program to FSG’s Bremerton, WA and San Diego, CA locations, Ross recently moved to the West Coast (Kingston, WA).
Ross holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
