Kristopher Larsen is the Information Technology Director for the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and is the former creator and Program Manager for ULMS Priority Hire. Kris developed the Priority Hire Program which coordinates with Contractors and Union dispatch, pre-apprenticeship programs, and apprenticeship on-the-job paid training programs to provide priority to those who live in economically distressed areas, as these areas have a high rate of community members who are living at or below the 200% federal poverty guidelines, unemployed, women, people of color, or do not have a college degree. The community members are also not represented in the construction industry which navigation into the trades allows prioritization of local community members especially those who has a construction in the urban neighborhoods opportunities. Creating access to training and employment within the construction workforce increases sustainable family wages and provide quality of life in the long term.
As the IT Director, Kris now creates programs for the Technology Sector to assist individuals entering Tech Apprenticeships and working with local school districts to introduce Robotics and Block Programming to High School students.
