Kenna May currently serves as the Manager of Apprenticeship for Spokane Community College (SCC). She has been with SCC for 25 years, with over 21 years dedicated to apprenticeship. Kenna deeply values community collaboration and has been instrumental in fostering a mutually-beneficial relationship between SCC and apprenticeships in Eastern Washington. She also enjoys serving on committees and giving trainings around the state for various organizations.

Her collaboration, dedication and skill have been fundamental in facilitating growth with the construction trades and the wider community. For example, in 2015, at the request of Eastern Washington Apprenticeship Coordinators Committee (EWACC), she along with several apprenticeship coordinators, established the Skilled Trades Preparation (STP) course through the Adult Basic Education department at SCC and the EWACC. This highly successful pre-apprenticeship program continues to prepare qualified female and minority applicants to enter and remain in construction apprenticeships. In addition, Kenna has been actively involved in the well-known Pizza Pop & Power Tools, an event that has positively introduced over 3,500 eighth grade girls to the exciting opportunities available to them in construction. She has even had the satisfaction of seeing a former 13-year-old attendee of the event enter apprenticeship a decade later.

Kenna and her husband have an adult son and two dogs. When not living and breathing apprenticeship, she enjoys hiking, reading, kayaking, and driving her 1942 Ford N9 tractor. She is patiently waiting for grandkids.
