Kelly Boykin is the supervisor of the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries’ Coaching/Mentoring unit. She has worked with our apprenticeship program as a Coach/Mentor and now the supervisor since 2011. She currently oversees the staff who mentor apprentices and ensure they achieve proficiency. She also interacts routinely with our apprentices regarding how our apprenticeship model works and she coordinates all our apprenticeship reporting. L&I’s WCA2 Apprenticeship model has been in place since 2003 with great success. We strive for continual improvement and are currently focused on using best practices in adult education to encourage strategic thinking and the use of soft-skills to help Washington workers heal and return to work.
