Alan Hardcastle has more than 25 years of research, policy, evaluation and consulting experience through state agencies and public and private-sector clients in education, industry, organized labor, workforce, and economic development. He has experience in quantitative and qualitative research design methods, and knowledge and skills analyses in the energy sector and a broad range of industry and education sectors. His industry and education-sector research has included industry trends and employment, smart grid technology and the energy workforce, construction and manufacturing sector technology and education policy analysis, energy efficiency/energy management education and training, industry-defined skill standards, labor market and economic analysis, and workforce development for the clean economy. Hardcastle holds a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has served on the advisory board for the Center of Excellence for Clean Energy and as a adjunct faculty member at The Evergreen State College. He serves in leadership roles for national and local climate change organizations, community and non-profit organizations.
